Supporting Education through Football

The Cuppy Foundation has partnered with Lutengo Youth to support educational attainment of children in rural areas across Uganda.

Our work is focused on using sport as a medium to engage with children and adults in rural communities, to advocate for school enrollment, raise awareness of alcohol and drug abuse, whilst disseminating information on sexual health to young adults.

With 42% of Uganda’s living below the poverty line - the notion of subsistence living does not always include ensuring education for children is provided and paid for. A UNICEF study has found that even in areas where governments provide free education, parents still have ancillary school expenses for uniforms, exam fees, school upkeep and books.

With education funding from INGOs and international organisations heavily weighted towards urban areas in Uganda, there exists a need to support children in rural regions in their attainment of basic education.
